Case studies

Uganda - Caritas Kiyinda Mityana Water and Sanitation

'We are running two Water and Sanitation projects. These projects have a combined total of 9,604 beneficiaries. The people from these communities approached us and requested we help them to improve their water and sanitation facilities. The projects include drilling bore holes; provision of 90 metallic water tanks and 120 canvas tanks for rain water harvesting; and 1,960 pits slabs for pit latrines; building and installation of sanitation infrastructure; plus training for the communities on safe sanitation practices and involement in developing their own projects.

I am developing the M&E framework for these projects using DoView. I previously tried using mind mapping software but find the functionality of DoView much better.'

Ethiopia - Sustainable Livelihoods Project

"The Kotoba Sustainable Livelihoods Project is a four year project in Ethiopia under implementation by Alliance of Knowledge & Action for Sustainable Livelihood Management Association (AKAM). The project is supporting a community to improve their livelihood options by sustainable utilization of local resources and building strong community institutions. It includes diversification of livelihood options and linkng the community to markets.

We have used result chains/logic models to conceptualize and design our theories of change. We are starting to use DoView to draw our result chains and have found it a good tool for representing the results we want and also for setting out evaluation questions in a systematic and simple manner."

Health Information for All 2015

The Health Information for All 2015 project has the objective of increasing healthcarers' access to the essential information they need to provide quality health services. These healthcarers ranges from mothers in remote villages looking after their sick child in the middle of the night to teams of doctors working in urban hospitals throughout the developing world.

The project is supported by organizations such as the British Medical Association and the Royal College of Midwives in the UK. It's bringing together a network of healthcare workers; medical librarians; health researchers; and health policy officials to explore new, and better ways of getting healthcare information to those who need it, when they need it, where they need it. The project has used DoView to build its outcomes model and as the basis for evaluation planning.
